About Chalet Les Brevins ...
Enjoy complete peace at this sumptuous five-star chalet near the charming village of Manigod, in the French Alps.
It’s a perfect retreat, with a magnificent panoramic view of the Etale valley and the Aiguille, which is perhaps best enjoyed from the hot tub on the covered terrace. The chalet’s other terraces also offer great views, of Tournette, Mont Charvin and the Sulens valley.
The small paved road which leads to the chalet is well-maintained and regularly cleared of snow, but in winter you will need to fit your car with snow tyres and good-quality chains. Parking is a few steps above the chalet, to preserve its rural character.
This dream location is just a few minutes drive from Manigod village, from where you can easily reach the ski stations of La Croix Fry and La Clusaz, and the nearby town of Thônes.
The owners have another chalet nearby, and are available at weekends to answer your questions and in the winter, during bad weather, to transport your luggage. Also available on the site is a charming wooden “mazot’ where there is a comfortable bedroom (please note, there is no bathroom in the mazot). Don’t hesitate to contact the owners if you would like to use this room during your stay.
The property ...
Chalet Les Brevins has five bedrooms and sleeps 12 people (max 10 adults), with a further bedroom available in the mazot (without bathroom).
The front door opens into the ground floor communal space, with a wet room and a boot warmer where you can store all of your outdoor gear. There is a large living area, the dining area looks out over a terrace and garden. In fact there are terraces to each side of the chalet, each with different layouts and views.
Back inside, there's a cosy seating area warmed by a suspended fireplace, a TV room, and a fabulous professional quality kitchen, which will make cooking a pleasure - there are three ovens, plenty of fridge space, and a temperature-controlled wine cellar.
The large balcony fills the room with light, and clever use of glass on the staircase means none of it is lost. There's access to a further terrace and a stylish double bedroom, which has its own staircase to a private bathroom with an Italian shower. Incidentally, the view from the bath is breathtaking - it's a great excuse for a long soak!
On the first floor you'll find four more bedrooms, three of which have flat screen televisions. The first, a double, also has a shower, sink and toilet, and access to the sunny balcony. The large master bedroom, which also has access to the balcony, has a shower and separate sink and toilet.
Children will love their room, which has a set of bunk beds, and two single beds. It shares a large bathroom and separate toilet with the final bedroom, a twin room which overlooks the sheltered hot tub outside.
The mezzanine floor is a great place to get together - there's a music system, a pool table, a brasserie-style seating area, a steam room with light therapy and another shower. There's also a laundry room here.
This spacious chalet has been cleverly designed to offer a series of cosy spaces so that, even if you are part of a big group, there is always somewhere to relax and do your own thing.
About the area ...
Despite its tranquil position, Chalet Les Brevins is just a few minutes drive from the ski station of Croix Fry, which has runs to challenge skiers of all abilities.
A ski bus (free with the Aravis ski pass) links this area to La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, which together offer 220km of perfect pistes as well as cross-country trails and snow parks. There's plenty of parking at the pistes.
Floodlights on some of the Croix Fry pistes mean you can ski until 9 at night and and the weekly torchlit descent in La Clusaz is an experience you'll never forget.
Non-skiers won't be bored, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice rink and cinema just a short drive away, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides. There is also a wealth of flora and fauna to discover, even in the winter, right on your doorstep.
For the ultimate in winter fun, try snow-shoe walking from the front door, paragliding on skis or ski joering - skiing while being towed by a horse!
After an energetic day on the slopes, it's great to come back to the welcoming Chalet Les Brevins, where you can share a meal with friends and family, relax in the jacuzzi or steam room or perhaps chill out with a game of pool.
Children who still have energy to spare will soon discover that the path to the side of the chalet makes a great sledge run!
In the spring and summer, the chalet's idyllic location really comes into its own. South-facing and set amongst forest and fields, it's a paradise for nature lovers who will find a wealth of flora and fauna in the area around the chalet. Children can play safely in the garden, thanks to the traffic-free setting.
The beautifully landscaped garden features a large sunny terrace, where you can sit out, and another sheltered area where you can relax in the hot tub after a busy day in the mountains. Although it's possible to walk and cycle from the chalet, just a little further afield there's a huge choice of walks, hikes and bike trails. Pack a picnic and take the lift up the mountain so you can come back down at your leisure.
Adrenalin junkies seeking more of a challenge can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, mountain-biking or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod.
For a change of scene, try a day out in Annecy - the medieval town sits on the edge of the cleanest lake in Europe where you can enjoy water sports, swimming and golf. Hire bikes and tackle the cycle track which surrounds the lake, or enjoy a gentle cruise of lakeside villages, combined with shopping and dining.

“...a taste of traditional mountain living with contemporary luxury facilities and features.”
Chalet Brevins is a 5 bedroom 5 bathroom chalet for 12 (max 10 adults) spread over 2 floors and 220m2 of floor space.
The chalet is in an isolated, peaceful and calm location, the owners manage it themselves and are completely aware of the pros and cons of living in such a location as they have a holiday home close to the chalet which they visit most weekends. They have reams of tips and advice about the local area they are very happy to share, to save you time when planning how you want to spend your time at Chalet Brevins.
The owners have achieved their dream of staying in touch with the natural surroundings and the history of the farm building they have restored so beautifully, complementing the best features of an old farm with those extra luxury touches which will give guests an extra-special holiday, from the toboggan runs in the garden to the extra beds in the mazot, the professional quality kitchen, the pool table, the cosy fireplace, the tv area, the hammam and the sheltered outdoor jacuzzi, spacious en suite bedrooms and lots of room for all of the guests to spread out both inside and out of doors.
The calm and the views from the chalet are just wonderful, the accent is on rejuvenation, contemplation and luxury. The chalet is a perfect base for multi generational families, groups of friends, and because of the wonderful facilities, a pleasure to visit any time of year, for a taste of traditional mountain living with contemporary luxury facilities and features.

From the Owner
Ever since we visited here for the very first time, we knew that we had discovered a taste of paradise.
"If you are looking to stay in an exceptional place, to breathe in the pure mountain air, immerse yourself in silence, and admire views across a stunning valley to the mountains beyond whilst enjoying the comfort, charm and authenticity of a five star luxury chalet, then you have found the right place!
Every day of the year you will be treated to ever-changing breath-taking scenery. Picture yourself with your friends and family snuggled around the fire watching snowflakes fall after a day out skiing or walking in the fresh air, having taken a turn in the jacuzzi or the spa... the good life indeed! There are just as many memorable treats to experience in the summer time, with walks from the front door, and drinks and dining out on one of the four terraces surrounding the chalet with only the mountains for neighbours.
The chalet is situated so close to nature that it is not at all unusual to see deer grazing in the surrounding fields. Yet it is also close to the village of Manigod where it is possible to buy fresh croissants each morning, ten minutes from the ski fields of Croix Fry/ Merdassier linked to La Clusaz, and in the other direction it's less than a dozen kilometres to Thones where you will find a variety of restaurants, boutiques, bakeries etc. You're close to everything you need but a long way from hustle and bustle!
We discovered Les Brevins in 2006. We were looking to buy a property in Manigod - Xavier's father was born here and Xavier and his family spent every weekend and holiday in the family chalet in the village whilst he was growing up. He wanted to return to his roots, back to the mountains, and was keen to find a peaceful haven to escape to after the rigours of the working week. As soon as we visited the property for the very first time with our own children we knew we had found THE perfect place, our very own taste of paradise. Not only had we stumbled upon a perfect site but there was a very old farm built around the end of the 17th century, a falling-down wooden workshop built in the 1950s and a mazot, a sort of chalet in miniature, used in its day for storing hay, wood or other farm materials.
First of all we set about renovating the workshop, to turn it into a comfortable place to spend our weekends and holidays. As our children grew older we made the mazot into an independent bedroom. Finally in 2013 we turned our attention to renovating the old farmhouse, so that we could share this amazing site. The farm will be ready to welcome its first visitors from the end of November 2014! We have honoured as much of the ancient character of the building as possible, and tried to remain respectufl of the spaces within this 300-year-old building. All of the structure of the chalet, the basement with its arched cellars, and most of the exterior wood of the property is original. We have also retained much of the original old wood of the interior walls as possible, and have tried to marry these materials with modern materials of equally good quality wherever necessary.
We love travelling with our children and friends and our travelling experiences have informed our decision to create a property which provides luxury and comfort, where each guest can find his or her own space to enable them to relax, enjoy life and feel good. We have deliberated over every detail in order to make your stay here an absolute joy and pleasure, we want you to leave with fantastic memories and the desire to return! We decided to create two main living spaces, one on each floor. Downstairs the main living space is 80m2 and consists of the lounge with fireplace, a TV room, dining space, and a high-end kitchen equipped with an induction hob, two ovens, a microwave, dishwasher, American-style fridge and temperature-controlled wine cellar...then there is a further 40m2 communal area on the first floor with a pool table, bar area with bar stools, and a steam room with light therapy treatments. We've created five bedrooms, each with their own decorative style. There is the "Deco" room, the country-style room, the chalet-style room, and two rooms for children and teenagers.
Outside you will find an exterior jacuzzi sheltering underneath its own roof space with a view across to Etale, and three other terraces, one with a view across to the Aiguille de Manigod, a large terrace with a dining table for the entire group with views acroos the valley and finally an evening terrace with views across to La Tournette. We've tried to think of every detail so that you can relax, de-stress and escape the rigours of everyday life...
Finally we would just like to mention just some of the activities it is possible to enjoy locally in the Aravis mountains: skiing, snow shoe walking, climbing trees, mountaineering and rock climbing, marvelling at waterfalls, cycling around Lake Annecy, the list is endless. As we've tried to create an environment that you won't want to stray too far away from, we have also provided snow shoes, sledges, walking itineraries, games, DVDs and books which you are welcome to use.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Set in one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys, the village of Manigod is a mountain secret that is a delight to discover. With its own ski area linking into the famed La Clusaz ski resort, Manigod offers fabulous skiing in winter and world class cycling in the summer.
Beautiful chalets are dotted around the mountains, restaurants range from local auberges to Michelin starred, and you can buy locally made pottery and cheeses fresh from the farm.
“Thank you !”
Thanks very much for the marvellous stay! Thanks for taking care of all the little details and for you help.

“What a magnificent holiday!”
The whole family got together for the first time! We had wonderful times in the spa overlooking the mountains, siestas around a crackling fire, billiards parties, unwrapped our Christmas presents around the tree, noisy meals around the table, enjoyed the constantly changing face of nature, watched the snow fall and counted the flakes, comparing their size and shape ... Thank you for the welcome, the kindness and the helpfulness.
Philippe B. - 23/12/2017
What should I say? We loved our holiday in this magnificent chalet, which was really well equipped. Everything we needed was there - great light, exceptional views wherever we looked ... we couldn't take our eyes off the mountains, the valley, the nature .. all in perfect peace. The best thing was the jacuzzi in the fresh air with a view of the peaks, not forgetting the sauna, the pool table, the games ... in short, there was something for everyone. All of this was sprinkled with the kindess, attention and sensitivity of the owners. Thanks for this wonderful chalet.

“Luxury, peace and pampering”
That is what we were looking for and we found in at this chalet, and this area - a real storybook image of childhood in the mountains. That waswhat we all wanted - our family with three teenage children. The lake at Charvin, Megeve and the Jaillet lift, the Col des Aravis and the wonderful view of the mysterious snow-capped Mont Blanc, the Combe de Paccaly in the magical Confins valley, the Beauregard plateau, the steep mountain bike trails at La Clusaz for the teenagers ... In short, a multitude of activities during the day before retiring to our magnificent chalet. Our evenings were spent in the Jacuzzi or playing pool. Thanks to Francoise and Xavier who thought of every little thing, both in terms of facilities and equipment, to make sure we had a marvellous holiday.

“Everything was perfect”
Thank you to Francoise and Xavier for their welcome. Everything was perfect: the welcome gifts, the comfort and space offered by the chalet, the view, the tranquility, the privacy, the kitchen equipment and the opportunity to relax in the jacuzzi and hammam. We loved staying in the chalet so that we could relax and enjoy it, and gathering in front of the fire. It was great to be able to go for walks or snowshoeing from the chalet. Thank you again for your hospitality. We will definitely come back to the chalet, perhaps in summer.

“A really lovely week”
We spend a really great week with our family, with ages ranging from two to 80. The chalet is exceptional and the decor is tasteful. Francoise and Xavier are charming people, and their welcome was perfect. The bedrooms are spacious, the view is exceptional and it was a joy to use the jacuzzi and the hammam. The pool table was an added extra which we loved. To conclude, everything was perfect, an experience we will definitely repeat. Thank you.

“Lovely moments at Chalet Les Brevins”
A welcoming chalet decorated with taste - well done! A magical setting, charming village where the traders were very kind. The Col de Merdassier was great for adults and children. Despite the absence of snow, everyone enjoyed it. It was a great end to the year, and we wish you all the best for 2016."

“Quite simply magical. ”
The week we spent at Chalet Les Brevins was magical. After a long journey with two young children, we found this accommodation very well organised for young families. The attention to detail, the equipment, the charming decor - in fact everything was perfect. We loved exploring the area, which was so peaceful and serene. Carry on doing what you do so well and thank you for the warm welcome.
Melissa L. - 12/12/2015
What a wonderful place to bring the family together. The silence is only "broken" by the sound of cow bells. This chalet is perfectly designed to welcome different generations of guests at the same time. Each bedroom is nicely decorated, all in a different way. We had a great time with our children and grand children.
Pierre D. - 18/07/2015
The stunning views, the solitude of the mountains, the peace & comfort, Annecy Lake just 20mn away, and of course delicious food... we hated leaving this heavenly place!
Niall O. - 27/06/2015
We spent a very nice stay in your wonderful chalet. We appreciated your warm welcome.
Anthony N. - 04/04/2015
“A real pocket of pleasure”
A magnificent welcoming chalet - a real pocket of pleasure in the heart of nature. As for the level of comfort - nothing was lacking! A car is certainly necessary, but that's a price worth paying for the tranquility of the chalet, the peace and the serenity of the surroundings - and all just five minutes from the village.
Jérôme S. - 14/03/2015
“The welcome from our hosts was remarkable”
A big well done to Xavier and Françoise for their magnificent renovation. The chalet manages to combine the comfort of a five-star hotel with the setting and traditional ambience of the valley's villages. Everything had been thought of to make our stay at the chalet simple and comfortable. We had a lovely stay and the welcome from our hosts was remarkable. Thank you again and good luck.
Augustin V. - 28/02/2015
“A comfortable stay in an idyllic setting”
A traditional, welcoming and modern chalet ideal for a comfortable stay in an idyllic setting and perfect for the whole family. The family-friendly station of Manigod, hiking in the forest, the excellent welcome with the opportunity to have skis delivered to the chalet, book lifts and the great help of the owners when we arrived. And the jacuzzi at the end of the day ...
Nathalie G. - 21/02/2015
“It's got the Wow Factor!”
Both our families had a fantastic week at Chalet Les Brévins. The instant "wow" factor of the house is followed up by all the small details. It's a fantastic, luxurious location. We were just pleased it didn't snow at night otherwise we wouldnt have made it out! Skiing in La Clusaz and Manigod was great.
Ruth H. - 14/02/2015
“"Bravo" for this wonderful chalet”
Thanks to Francoise and Xavier for their welcome and kindness. Your smiles reflect the lovely time we had staying at Brevins. A perfect setting with a splendid views. The owners were nearby, quick to help and very kind - such an advantage. The Croix Fry ski station is perfect for children. We also loved the market at Thones and the ski station of La Clusaz.
